I receive a lot of updates from Mark Lerner of the Stop REAL ID Coalition that have a lot of good information in them; however, sometimes it is easier for you guys if I just summarize it for you.

Mark did attend the hearing on the PASS ACT today, in which he was not allowed to testify.

There was no opposition to the PASS ACT except for those that thought it was not strong enough or they gave lip service concern over privacy.

In the past week and a half lies have been coming out of Washington D.C. to callers over this issue.

Lie 1: It repeals REAL ID.

Lie 2: It does not contain biometrics

Lie 3: There will be testimony allowed in opposition of the bill

Lie 4: They had never heard of Mark Lerner or the Stop REAL ID Coalition. There had already been previous meeting between staffers, aids, Senators and Mark.

All these lies have been refuted.

So Mark took the opportunity to have dissuasions with as many people as possible on this matter.

Other opposed organizations in attendance were EPIC and 5-11 whom also was not allowed to testify.

This hearing was billed as a revaluation of REAL ID but it was more of an affirmation and the further agreement that the Federal Government should interfere in State Sovereignty and set standards for drivers licenses AKA your ID because that is what it is really all about, who are you and everything about you, right down to your body.

L-1 Identity Solutions, the Corporation that stands to gain from this acted as if they owned the place. But our Coalition is hopeful this will change as things said to be impossible in the past have happened in regard to this issue like the ACLU and ACLJ coming together and people from both sides of the aisle once they see all the facts coming to the conclusion that this is a bad idea if they have any patriotic, liberty minded sense left in them. More people are becoming aware of REAL ID.

Mark was informed a written testimony would be accepted; however, that is viewed as a waste of precious time, it will not be read and it will garner little to most likely no attention by the media unlike an actual testimony in a hearing.

There was NOT A VOTE TODAY and there are to be more hearings. So, there is still a chance Mark could testify.

We need to make calls to Sen. Lieberman at 202-224-4041and the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs line at 202-224-2627

Ask that Mark Lerner from the Stop REAL ID Coalition be allowed to testify in opposing to S 1261 the PASS ACT.

* REAL ID/PASS ID IS
* A VIOLATION OF STATE SOVERIGNTY
* AN UNFUNDED MANDATE
* A VIOLATION OF THE 1ST, & 4TH AMENDMENTS
* HAS BIOMETRICS
* WILL LEAD TO A SURVIELANCE SOCIETY
* IS INTERNATIONAL AS A UN AGENCY WILL REGULATE THIS.

FOR MORE INFORMATION ON REAL ID/PASS ID GO TO: WWW.STOPREALIDCOALITION.COM

To check out the testimony that was given today go to: http://hsgac.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?FuseAction=Hearings.Hearing&Hearing_ID=3d9a52cd-c442-4dee-9a1f-b02ed3b38000

I know this is not an easy issue to understand and may not seem important because until Sunday by and large the media was ignoring it except for a mention by Charles Key of Oklahoma, the author of the popularized Sovereignty Resolution on Huckabee about a month ago as they discussed it.

FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION!!!!!!

Industrial agriculture and technology companies are urging the government to adopt a program that will drive many small farms out of business, burden horse owners, invade our privacy, increase the cost of meat, and expand the government bureaucracy.

If the National Animal Identification System (NAIS) is made mandatory, anyone who owns even one horse, chicken, cow, pig, sheep, goat, or any other livestock or exotic, will have to:

* Register their property with the state and federal government;
* Identify each animal, in most cases with electronic identification;
* Report events to a government-accessible database within 24 hours, including every dead or missing animal, private sales, and regional shows.

NAIS will:

* violate individuals’ Constitutional rights, including freedom of religion and right to privacy;
* reduce the availability of local, organic, and grass-fed foods;
* raise the cost of food, because tagging and tracking costs will be passed on to consumers;
* create a massive government bureaucracy.

NAIS will not:

* make food safer since most food-borne illnesses, such as e coli and salmonella, are due to food processing and handling practices – not live animals;
* protect us against bioterrorism – the proposed microchips and radio tags are easily reprogramed and large databases are easy targets for terrorists or other criminals.

NAIS is both a federal and a state issue:

* The USDA says that the NAIS is voluntary at the federal level. But, USDA is funding the States to implement NAIS at the state level, and that funding creates incentives for States to use mandatory, misleading, or coercive methods in order to increase participation. And, Congress is considering putting NAIS in bills to fund and implement NAIS.

The USDA has announced the locations for seven “listening sessions” about the National Animal Identification System (NAIS). The NAIS would impose severe hardships on small farmers, and impact anyone who owns even one livestock or poultry animal, whether to sell, for their own food, or as a pet.

Key Congressional leaders have called for a mandatory NAIS, and Secretary Vilsack has made statements indicating that he plans to push forward with some sort of program. It’s going to take a lot of people speaking up loud and clear to keep a mandatory program from being imposed on every livestock owner in America! These listening sessions are a critical opportunity to get media attention on NAIS and demonstrate the level of opposition to the program.

Start making your plans NOW to come to the listening session nearest you, and spread the word!

USDA’s Own Cost Analysis Shows NAIS will put Small Farmers out of Business

Enhanced Online News – May 12, 2009
The Farm-to-Consumer Legal Defense Foundation said today that a cost/benefit study commissioned by United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) proves that the costs for small farmers to implement the National Animal Identification System (NAIS) could put many of them out of business.
