I have worked our Kentucky Legislature as well as our Federal officials for nearly 20 years on behalf of Conservative Causes.

We watch C-span here at the office daily and we last week watched and listened to all the hype about the “Cap and Trade” legislation we could stand. We learned that the only way to keep us from all dying, plants and animals, was to pass the proposed legislation that would force certain countries and companies to cap their production of greenhouse gasses. However, if you were to need to pollute a little more than allowed you could then purchase “credits” to pollute a little more. My God, I could see the trees getting greener already. This was amazing to me. Buy a credit and you ain’t polluting, WOW!

I got to thinking about this. As a matter of fact I have thought about this a lot in the past week. I even took the time to see how this works. I even learned that Al Gore uses up to four (4) times more energy with his home than I do. I got to wondering how much more polluting this is than my little place. I even started to get a bit upset. However, I found that he was OK because he was buying credits to pollute so he wasn’t really polluting after all. He is a good man even though he did buy those credits from his own company. Thank God Al is so thoughtful about energy use and polluting.

Then my little Hillbilly, I prefer Bluegrass-American, brain went into overdrive or something. A friend told me that he kind of links these credits to being able to control drought with credits. My little brain then went from overdrive to hyperdrive.

I have an idea that I know Al Gore will jump all over like stink on doggy doo. I just hope that when he implements this that he will give me a cut of the profits like those he is making on this global climate change. Al, I don’t have the money nor speaking skills you do so you go baby but don’t forget me. You go save the world with my idea.

See, I kinda figure that we will never ever need to use fossil fuels to heat or cool our homes again when Al implements my plan.

We will use the “CAP” part this way; every home will have their heat and air conditioning set at a predetermined temperature. The “TRADE” part works like this: We will then have heating credits and cooling credits. The parts of the world that are too hot and their air conditioners kick on will buy “cooling credits” sold buy those that are living under cold weather conditions. Their homes will then stay the same temperature and everything will be just fine. In the areas where it is cold they just buy “heating credits” that will be sold by those where it is hot.

Just thinking about this credit concept gives me goosebumps of excitement, doesn’t it do the same to you? Now let me go a step further and give you hyper-excitement goosebumps. How about we take areas that are under drought conditions and sell them “water or rain credits”. They could buy these credits from areas that have too much rain or are flooded. The areas that are flooded would sell their rain or water credits and presto…..NO FLOOD! Right? Why if we still have too much water or flood conditions we could do the exact same thing as they do are going to do with CO2 sequestration. We simply dig wells down deep into the ground and send the flood waters to the wells.

I tell you, a feller could really get into this environmental stuff. In no time at all we can solve all of the problems of too hot, too cold, too dry or to wet and live in paradise. I owe all this thinking to my newly thought of friend Al Gore. Just think of what this means. NO MATTER WHERE YOU ARE ON THIS PLANET YOU WILL HAVE THE SAME TEMPERATURE and THE SAME WATER LEVELS EVERY DAY FROM NOW ON IN THEORY, RIGHT?

I know things aren’t perfect yet but with this trading credits sytem we are getting there. I need to think about other things like hurricanes, tornadoes and stuff. Who knows we may even be able to have disease and wellness credits. You know, if you are sick but don’t want to be then just buy a “wellness credit” and instantly you are well. If you are well but want to take a day off work then just buy a “Sick credit” and you are covered.

Look at what we could do with hunting credits. Why we could stay at home and buy a “DEER credit” and never even have to go Deer hunting. Maybe the government would send me a hundred pounds of Vennison with each Deer credit I can buy. I will just have to be sure to only “bag” my Deer credits during Deer season so that the Game Warden won’t lock me up and take my “Deer credits” away.

I tell you, there seems to be no end to how we can save the world, the animals and even we people. Ain’t credit good? All this thinking has given me a headache so I think I will go UNCAP a cold one and take a couple Aspirins until they start selling those Wellness credits”.

Call me sometimes Al. I think we can save the world yet.
